The British Christian Writers Conference, taking place this September, is a friendly and supportive gathering of Christian writers working across all genres. Now in its fifth year, writers new and old come together to explore and refine their calling, receive prayer ministry, learn about marketing techniques that suit their unique career stages and personalities, and develop writing skills.
It is the brainchild of Andrew Chamberlain and Ruth Leigh. Andrew is an experienced author and writing coach, and Ruth is a full-time author – and one you may be familiar with from her popular Isabella M Smugge series! Both are passionate about encouraging Christians in their creative gifting, particularly writing, to help them fulfil God’s calling on their lives and to share the gospel.
‘With sessions on marketing, writing memoir and devotionals, creating an audio book, working with an illustrator, marketing, mastering social media, working with your local Christian bookshop and self-publishing – and more! – this is an event which has something for everyone,’ comments Ruth. ‘If you would like to invest in yourself as a Christian writer, you will find plenty of expertise, encouragement, industry and network contacts and prayer opportunities for your ministry as a Christian writer.
‘This year, for the first time, there will be a commissioning service for all creatives on Friday evening, offering an opportunity to engage and share in creative prayer and worship. If you are feeling brave, you can polish your pitching skills, and as always we will have an authors’ book stall, great food and drink and prayer slot opportunities from Kingdom Living Ministries.’
Held at Histon Baptist Church near Cambridge, attendees will have the opportunity to meet a number of our very own Instant Apostle authors, and to find new vision and encouragement for their work. A day ticket for Saturday 20th is £80, and £140 will get you access to the whole event with everything it has to offer.
So whether you are an experienced author, are just setting out, or are wondering if you should ever pick up the pen, then why not come along and meet fellow creatives in a fun and supportive way that may just spark the next part of your writing journey!
